Nike Flagship Store To Offer Consumer A Unique Branded Experience



Located at Wisma Atria, the store will be a venue to engage sporting enthusiasts and provide them access to innovative premium products




SINGAPORE (17 November 2008) – Nike is changing the sports retail landscape with the opening of a new Nike flagship store in the famed Orchard Road shopping belt in Singapore. Conveniently located at Wisma Atria shopping mall, the store will offer consumers not just access to a wide selection of innovative premium products, but also a branded retail experience to connect their athletic world to the world of Nike.

“This Nike store represents our commitment towards serving the athlete in every active consumer. We aim to transform this store into more than just a premium retail destination. It will be a venue where sporting enthusiasts connect and where the passion of sports comes alive,” said Mr. Stanley Goh, Country Director, Nike Singapore.



To kick off the scheduled opening at the end of this month, the store will launch a special collection of Nike Windrunner jackets in Gold and Silver. Playing up the ‘Bling’ factor for the collection, each metallic hue is paired up with 12 pop shades to create unique combinations that cater to style-savvy consumers that wish to express their individualism through their selection. Rooted in sports, the Windrunner was originally a track jacket whose design has endured for over 25 years and has since evolved to become a lifestyle statement. These unique Nike Metallic Windrunners will only be available for retail exclusively at the Nike Wisma Atria flagship store in Singapore.

Creating part of the unique consumer experience at the store will be the availability of a NIKEiD STUDIO where select customization services will be offered to customers who like to define their own image. For a start, the NIKEiD STUDIO will provide tee-shirt customization options where individuals can decide on their choice of shirt colors, graphics, numbers and/or text as well as choice of application treatments to make a statement. Each creation will comprise the product innovation and premium standards of a Nike tee but remains characteristic and unique to each individual consumer.

Goh added, “We have employed the best talent within the Nike family to help design the space. Drawing inspiration from Nike’s strong heritage in track and field, we have added design elements to reflect our legacy and also added new details that demonstrate our constant quest for innovation. More importantly, we hope our customers can be inspired by the spirit of sports and embrace it into their personal lives.”

The store’s design was conceptualized by Oregon-based Nike Vice President of Special Projects, Tinker Hatfield, named by Fortune Magazine in 1998 as one of the 100 most influential designers of the century.

One of 8 icons within Nike Sportswear collection, this iconic apparel is rooted in Nike’s passion for sport while re-mastered and further improved for this season. Playing up the ‘Bling’ factor for the collection, each metallic hue is paired up with 12 pop shades to create unique combinations that cater to style-savvy consumers that wish to express their individualism through their selection.

The Windrunner is Nike’s most recognizable piece of apparel. Designed as a running jacket, its nylon construction meant lightweight wear. But the Windrunner quickly transcended its athletic identity thanks to early hip-hop culture, which made it its own. Re-mastered for today, the lightweight shell is even lighter, built from super-breathable nylon and equipped with an updated hood that forgoes a hood adjuster for a clean finish.

Retailing each at S$ 138.00, the collection will be made available for a limited time at the first Nike flagship store in Singapore at Wisma Atria shopping centre from December onwards.
